Under a clear blue sky and blazing sun, the Maverick Media football team took on a number of games industry giants hoping to win honours in the MCV Gamesfives Football Tournament.

Early wins in the group stage against Xbox UK (5-4), Gamestation HQ (2-1) and Amazon Allstars (7-1) put them through to the knockouts and within touching distance of the trophy. Another win against Juicy Games gave passage to the 2nd round where the valiant but fatigued players would have to overcome Industry Allstars (DR Studios).

However, a 6-0 drubbing was in store and thus ended our participation in the competition. Overall the team was ranked 14th of 60 teams, which was an excellent achievement. Hopefully next year this can be improved upon and the shiny trophy will be coming back to take pride of place in the office.
